Dr Gill Barry

Senior Lecturer in Biomechanics

Following my undergraduate study, I completed an MSc in Sport and Exercise Science from Teesside University and more recently completed my PhD in Physiotherapy from Teesside University in 2013. Previous to my post at Northumbria I was a Research Associate at the Institute of Neuroscience at Newcastle University and Associate Lecturer in Biomechanics at Sunderland University.

My research themes include exergamin and virtual rehabilitation.

My PhD was focused around analysing the effects of exergaming on postural control, technology acceptance and immersion into gaming.

Other research interests include  analysing the physiological cost of exergaming in young adults and design and implementation of exergaming for people with Parkinson's Disease (PD).

Alongside exergaming my research interests include understanding potential cognitive and motor drivers for activity levels in people with PD and analysis of 7 day ambulatory data.
